Partner in Crime

July 24th 2006 10:29
Good evening boys and girls,

Tonight I'll be introducing you to my partner in crime, my mini-me, my tool of trade, my Motorola V3x. Every photo I take that goes into this blog is taken with its 2 megapixel camera and more often than not in macro mode. I will however apologise that the pictures are not taken with much care as they are any chance I get when I'm at work, so they may be a bit blurry as we are generally flat out working.

This review will run over four entries: this one being features, the next being the pros of the V3x, following that will be the cons and finally a summary and evaluation. If by that time you still have questions about the V3x then feel free to pop me questions at mobiletales @ gmail . com and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Like I said earlier, the Motorola V3x sports a nice 2 megapixel camera. It relies on point focus but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s not as good as an autofocus camera!

What is good, relative to older camera phones, is the amount of settings that Motorola has allowed users to play around with to get their perfect shot. In particular users are allowed to change the exposure settings, the colour settings (such as colour, black & white, sepia etc), lighting conditions (ranging from outdoors to ‘in the office’) and zoom (to a maximum of 8x digital zoom).

Furthermore, at the flick of a dial you can change your lens setting to either landscape or macro mode!

In terms of memory capacity, there is 64mb of internal memory and a slot for memory expansion. The memory expansion takes the form of transflash cards (also known as micro SD cards) and according to the features supports up to 512mbs (but I do know people who have used 1gb cards with no problems).

One big advantage of the Motorola V3x over older phones is that it supports stereo Bluetooth. Previously phones have only needed mono Bluetooth as Bluetooth earpieces was solely used for making and receiving calls. However, now phones are being used as mp3 and video players they require the ability to have stereo sound. Stereo Bluetooth is the obvious next step in the evolution of headsets in regards to phones.

In addition to this, when not using a handsfree set or when using the standard handsfree set that comes in the box, users are given the ability to voice dial both people and numbers.

As with all new 3g (3rd Generation) phones it supports video calling and video streaming. Your emails can now be sent to your phone via POP3 and the V3x can be used as a broadband modem, entirely without wires through Bluetooth.

Finally as phones are constantly evolving, there are many features fast becoming standard today. The most obvious of these features which the Motorola V3x has are, speakerphone, mp3 player, video player (3gp and mp4 formats), and of course voice calling and SMS.

Again if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line at mobiletales @ gmail . com and stay tuned for our next instalment on the pros and cons of the V3x with more pictures included!

Coming to you from the other side of the line,
Sincerely,

- Ben

This phone i found, was very easy to use. I enjoyed it and it has lasted. The menu is very large with 12 clickable icons. It would be a GREAT first phone. And for anyone really.
