My HTC Desire "Review"
June 30th 2010 09:33
I’ve had my new HTC Desire for a few weeks now so I thought I’d post a short review! It would be interesting to hear whether any of you have used the phone and whether you agree/disagree with my thoughts.
Advantages
• Looks great. Screen is sharp and there are endless things you can do with the phone thanks to the Android Market.
• Live wallpapers are a nice touch but I turned mine off fairly quickly for battery reasons (see below).
• Everything works how you think it should – emails are quick to be pushed, browser is great and wireless etc easy to setup.
• Reasonable sound quality for phone calls.
• Touch pad is good too although it can take a bit of getting used to. The feedback you get when you touch the keypad is a nice touch and makes the phone feel a bit more “real”.
Disadvantages
• The battery life is really poor. If you’re going to be using it even moderately during the day then make sure you charge it each and every night. I thought the iPhone was bad but I think the battery life on the HTC Desire may actually be slightly worse.
• It can be difficult to hold the phone in one hand when trying to do various things as it’s just slightly too big to access the buttons at the bottom comfortably. I’ve got pretty big hands too so it’s not just me!
• The Android store doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as good as the Apple app store – this is something which will probably get better over time though.
Overall I think it’s a great phone and I love it. Although there are some disadvantages compared to the iPhone, overall I think its well worth the money and is definitely the best option at the moment.
